Family Safari in Africa

Going on a safari can be the most rewarding and exciting vacation for your family and this can be a learning experience for your young ones as well. But there are quite a few hurdles that can force you to change your mind about opting for safari for family vacation. The biggest obstacle is of course the cost of such an endeavor as safari is always a costly affair. Traveling with kids into the national parks with high malaria or other tropical diseases risk is another factor which can keep you away from them. Here we will try to help you out in making the right choices about the country you want to head to for a family safari.

South Africa:

There is no better place for family safari than South Africa in the world. The reason being the excellent infrastructure of the country that makes traveling that much less hectic. The national parks of the country also cost a less than its neighbors and they provide an excellent game viewing opportunity. Most of its national parks are malaria free and are safe for traveling with children. Finding a flight to Cape Town and Johannesburg is easy and the hotels and services provided are world class.

Tanzania:

The national parks of Tanzania are the best place for safari in the continent with the most exotic wildlife but the tourism infrastructure of the country is not top notch and it will be quite difficult for you to find family friendly safaris here. If you do decide to go there then try to stick to the northern circuit which includes the awesome Serengeti as well. Combining a safari into Tanzania’s national parks with a few days spent on its gorgeous beaches of Zanzibar can provide you with a memorable vacation.

Kenya:

The country can provide you with a couple of decent options for family safari but it is not recommended if your sole purpose of arriving into the continent is family safari. You can however couple a beach vacation in Mombasa with a visit to the exciting Tsavo National Park.

Namibia:

There are quite a few bright sides to the family safari in Namibia, its national parks are malaria-free and have exotic wildlife, its roads are good and there are a lot to see even outside the parks in form of stunning landscape plus it has a long cost line that can provide some opportunities for a beach vacation. But then there is one not so pleasant feature to a vacation in Namibia as well and that is the huge distances between the national parks and other attractions. Children often don’t like long drives but if your ones are an exception then Namibia can be a great place for your family safari.

Botswana:

Only opt for Botswana if money is not much of an issue with you as it costs a lot more than the other destinations. It can however provide you with an awesome wildlife opportunity and save you the hassle of driving the long distances as you can fly into most of its national parks.
